DEVASTATION CAUSED BY FLOOD IN GBAKO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA ON 6TH-8TH SEPTEMBER, 2020

Across the globe, floods have posed tremendous danger to people’s lives and properties.
In Gbako Local Government, the pattern of flood is similar with the rest of flood across the state, mainly caused as a result of release of water volumes from Shiroro Dam, heavy downpour within the months of July and September and human cause.

Virtually, communities living along river Kaduna southern part of Gbako and River Gbakogi North are highly affected by flood as a result of human attitude which has become yearly phenomenon.
Owing to the combined forces of the above mentioned devastation caused by flood in Gbako Local Government areas on 6th – 8th September, 2020 served as black days to the communities as the farmers witness submerged of their farmlands to the devastating flood across hundred of thousands of hectares of farmlands with varieties of crops i.e. Rice, sugarcane, maize and other assorted crops.
AREAS AFFECTED
The devastating flood has wear its ugly effect to the following political wards of Gbako Local Government:
1. Edozhigi
2. Gbadafu
3. Edokota
4. Batagi
5. Sonmazhiko
6. Nuwankota
7. Batako

Sheiikh Lemu died in Minna Thursday. He was aged 91 years. A statement by one of his children, Nurudeen Lemu, confirmed the demise of the scholar and educationist.  He was buried according to Islamic right. The deceased authored so many books and received the King Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz award for the promotion of peaceful coexistence among people of different faith. 8th January is declared as work free day

The Hon Vice Chairman of Gbako Local Government Barrister Barnabas Musa Baba In consultation with Labour and other Trade Unions at the Local Government,  Has declared Monday 8th of February as work free day for the entire staff of the Local Government in Memory of late Hajiya Fatima Aliyu Lemu, Mother of Hon chairman, Alhaji Hussein Aliyu Lemu DANKIMIYAN NUPE (AMALI) Who died on Saturday 6th of February After a brief Illness.  Information Officer Gbako Local Government, with Hassan Bawa and Aliyu Mohammed Lemu.
